Just to alert anyone who may use the Wix 57701 Trans filter for GM 1000 series Allison Trans (GM PU's) that I got 4 of them that are no good. They all got defective threads and will not spin on the transmission. They go about 1+ turn and become tight. One filter has squiggles in the thread and the other 3 just have bad threads.

So be warned about Made in China Wix Hydraulic filters.

I will try to take some photo's of the problems when my battery charges back up but its hard to seen the problems so the pic may not show any anomalies.

We had to run to the GM dealer and get an AC Delco to finish the trans oil change. My bud was heading 500 miles to Detroit tomorrow to get on his oar boat.

Here are 2 of the defective filters. These came sealed in plastic.

They are going back to the wholesaler. That's only way I can get credit...

btw - each one has a different lot number on the filter, 2 are close but others are mile apart

Other filter is not in my possession at the moment, in the back of my friends truck.

If Wix is like Purolator, they'll ask you to send them into their labs. They'll give you new replacement filters and probably take care of all the shipping costs as well.

That's disappointing.

I've always liked Wix. I suspect that their under financial pressure just like all companies. Shame to have such a good name become tarnised. I, too, use that little filter on my Allison. Haven't had this experience yet, though.

When you visit their website, they do have some facilities in other countries. I wonder if they made this filter themselves, or bought it from a 3rd party?

Could be a good basic filter. Appears that a punching machine gotoff center and the inspection department did not do their job. Another China product goes down the tubes.

I returned the filters to my jobber. Let him take care of it. He did say he sells a lot of these particular 57701 Wix and never had a one come back till these. I must have gotten the only 4 bad ones?

I don't think these are made by Wix, I bet there are sourced from another manf. They come in a plain white box with a Wix label stuck on, they are white in color and they come in shrink warp plastic. They have the Wix part number stenciled in blue on the filter. This is a common practice in the filter industry.

Normally I would have used AC Delco but they are nearly $30 ($42 from GM dealer) and Jared is a Wix man and the price on the Wix was about $15 net.

We've used Fram and Purolator hydro filters on a variety of equipment over the years. Maybe....

I was looking into a P550606 Donaldson but when I googled that number I found this doc.

Probably from the same source as the Wix..
