A few months back, I purchased a Wix 57060XP oil filter from Amazon for my son's Jeep Renegade. Seller was Amazon, not a third party. The filter is made in the USA. I need to change the Jeep's oil this weekend. Given the current reputation of Wix filters amongst those here in the know, should I go ahead and use this filter or toss it out of an abundance of caution? Unless any of you has had a terrible experience with this particular filter, I'm planning on using it.

"Popular Opinion" may not be the best choice for you. Could you imagine if we did whatever was popular. Or better yet get everyone's approval on any certain branded filter would be like herding snakes. The XP line is their top product so I see no reason to not use it. I have seen where they've removed the polyester backing from some models though. I'd be interested to see if yours is if you end up cutting it after a service interval. Made in USA! 🇺🇲

My main reason for asking was to make sure there wasn't a known issue with this particular filter amongst the members here.

It'll be around the end of this year before the OCI is up, I might cut it open then. Maybe I'll buy a proper filter cutter this year. I am glad it was made in USA! 🇺🇸 I've managed to buy a few made in the USA things over the last year, hand tools mostly.

Since Bosch filters production moved from USA to Mexico filters became pretty much unusable, I threw out 4 never used ones including one I cut for inspection after seeing closed louvers.
I'm also glad I don't need to maintain that Acura that my daughter had and now sold, weird filter location requiring taking wheel off for access. I do both Kia cars in sig without ever lifting them off ground.
