WIX 51334 CUT OPEN

Off a friends 2018 KIA Forte with Napa Syn 5w30. 4K on oil and filter. I put another 2019 made wix and some CarQuest 5w30 HM in and on.

That's good to know, since it means a recent 2021-production Wix is still made in the US and retains the classic Wix construction with the coil spring bypass and the round holes.

For awhile, the 51334 was made in Korea and likely a rebadged Mann W811/80 that is OE on Hyundai/Kia cars. They did the same with the cheaper Pro-Tec/Proselect equivalent (giving it a silicone ADBV rare for a cheap economy-tier Wix)

Yep, OG Wix looks good.

That said, I've resigned myself to all Wix/NG going to more Puro-ish construction., i.e., dome bypass (which topic has) and flat/leaf compression spring. Unlike topic, many been using louvers for some time. The plus side of it, 'could be' larger filter elements. Been regularly using Bosch Premium 3323 (7317 equivalent) made by Puro, in Nissan and Honda, post use anecdotes have looked good. Like it or not M&H calling the shots, saving costs by eliminating Wix thread end piece and coil compression spring happening. At least currently majority highest tier Wix/NG/XP/Plat spin on still made in US.
