Winterizing Mercruiser 5.7L model 260

I was winterizing my Mercruiser 5.7L model 260 a little late. One thing I do is to pull the intake hose (at the engine) that runs from the outdrive to the front of the engine to the thermostat/waterpump area. I then pour antifreeze down that hose until it comes out the intake slots in the outdrive.

Today when I poured antifreeze it ran right into the bilge. Best case would be the hose popped off a fitting.

Yes, thats all it could be...BTW, the lower leg is self draining, so pouring anti freeze down that house it will just run onto the ground.

I am looking into if there is a power steering cooler in line with this hose. Hard to see under the engine back there.

There has to be one, I'm sure its blown apart by now.
