I liked W7 and W10 is as good and better. Everything just works.
My 2 cents and my experience.

When my Windows 7 laptop bit the dust I knew it was a Chrome Book or a Windows 10 laptop. I tried the CB and didn't like it. It's now my bedside TV.
My new HP laptop with Windows 10 is awesome! I don't know why I was so scared of change.

New system up and running. Took about 3.5 hours to take old stuff out and put new in. It booted up and recognized the drives. I didn't have to activate Windows 10. Good stuff!

My daughter likes my mom's old laptop better than a Chromebook (Latitude D series, with 15" screen and a real keyboard instead of the 11" screen and toyish keyboard), so now I use her school Chromebook for WebEx, freeing up my laptop / monitor for real work during the meeting. For the price CB is actually nice, I can see that will be the future for school and office machines based on being kids friendly or administrative work friendly. OSX and Windows would be more for home machine that you can customized, but too much effort to lock down for IT.
