Will used SUV and trucks get cheaper due to gas$?

We went through this back in the early 80s. A lot of muscle cars went for cheap or got crushed when people were paying a premium for econoboxes.

Gary i think i am your age! i am fifty and when i am on the road i drive 900 to a 1000 miles a day, take my bathroom breaks with my fuel stops, my 81 year old dad is the same way and so is my 78 year old uncle who still drives around eighty thousand miles a year!

i do tease him about driving it all with his left turn signal on!

I'm 52 ..but I'm also a massive consumer of available liquids. 2 or 3 pots of coffee and up to a gallon of some Crystal Lite type thing. (that's why I don't drink beer or other alcohol on a regular basis). I just don't have the bladder I used to. Now I have to watch the consumption. With about 350 miles of reasonable fueling distance ... I'd have to travel at a pretty good clip to have the fill up and the tapping off in sync.

Out of curiousity I looked at F150 yesterday and they might be a little cheaper. Not much though. If we weren't in the situation we're in now I'd buy a F150 supercrew.

the way things are going,in a yr or 2, they will practically be giving away SUVs. Ive been hearing over at TTAC, that banks are so glutted with them, that they have stopped repo'ing them.

Check the F150 out the door price if you're interested.

Ford is holding back the new bodystyle F150 because dealers have 140 day supply on the ground.

I'll be you can cut a deal PLUS get a great incentive.

gary i get a cup of coffee and some sun flower seeds and go till i get to the next fuel stop, if i drank more i am sure i would have to stop more often

I'd probably get a minivan if you're strapped for cash. They have the soccer mom stigma, so resale has been low on them for awhile, especially the Dodge/Chrysler offerings. Plus, they get much better gas mileage than a Yukon/Tahoe and can seat just as many people.

Hey, maybe I'm just *too* practical....

Well when I say afford I mean being able to pay cash outright.
.I could of afforded a new SUV years ago if finbanaced but I dont beleive in finanacing a car & I wanted a bargin priced truck..
Besides IVE been driving a econobox for the past 15 years and always wanted a nice truck..Ive worked hard the past 15 years (now 30 years old) and I want to take my family on vacations where everyone is happy including my two 2 kids and wife..We will sleep in this truck to save on hotel if the weather is right, so saving for us there.

I want a suburban becuase I want to get a boat and pull my trailer (needed tow capacity a van does not have).

We have two Nice honda accords with 175K & 100K that will easily last another 150K each...so this is a recrational vehicle.

I am not spedning a fortune on one $6000-$8000 and it will be paid for in cash, no full coverage, no interest on a loan.

Mini vans are going for more than SUV's right now Toyota and hondas anyway..Minivan market right now seems to be holding well, meaning it wont be a bargain for me to buy one.
