It's been my experience that just making sure the bills get paid is always a good idea. That tends to prevent this sort of thing. Usually.

I have heard a lot from others that billing can get screwed up and a bill is never sent and then they will send it to collections after 90 days or so. Seams to happen a lot in medical. It is a screw up on their part but you have to b.e diligent about fixing it.
