lthough I am highly against the concept..why worry about it? You can all sit and wring your hands over it or worry about more important issues. If and when it happens to you and/or yours then you can personally make a stand and voluntarily leave or go down blazing and be carried out feet first. It's as simple as that. [Smile]

Why wait until that point. It's already proven it can happen. Hey maybe you're an old dude

and don't care, but I don't want to die because my gov't is out of control. But I guess I would if I had to. I'd prefer to stop it before then.

And

"Promoting economic development is a traditional and long accepted function of government," Stevens wrote

Since when does the constitution or any founding fathers mention this? Sad thing is, some will read that and believe it.

The worst part is, the supreme court is not even elected, so what can you do about it. Vote out any town that tries to take advantage of the ruling? Seems kind of weak...

Jason,

I'm sure the moderators closed it because I knowingly broke the "no politics" rule. But, I was so mad & still am at the court, that I had to post something.

Any topic that gets inflamatory ends up getting locked. It was more a discussion about government more than politics as were discussions on other alleged (perhaps real) intrusions. When you start seeing polarizing "camps" ...that's typically when you see something locked that isn't obviously a powder keg waiting for a match (third worlders spit on Monopoly game and burn it- type stuff - sware revenge for Mom's apple pie commercial)

I was surprised they closed the "More waste of tax dollars" topic pretty quickly too, before I got a chance to clarify my dry humour that appears to have been misinterpreted!

I thought everyone was rather well-behaved, but it sure was a powder keg waiting to explode. I was the first one to answer and was surprised to see it later deleted - first time a post of mine has been censored! It contained a reference to politics and politicians.

Doesn't this ruling mean that churches can be siezed and razed to make way for liquor stores, casinos?

Churches pay no taxes. The others do. "Economic Development" here we come!

We need a revolution.
