Yeah, the new Tundra engine is doing great.
They sell the same or similar vehicles across the globe, including to places where oil selection is fairly limited. The dynamic force engines will take anything from 0w-16 to 15w-40. KISS model.

Honda & Toyota are part of JAMA which is a part of the International Lubricant Standardization and Approval Committee (ILSAC) which is an organization that develops minimum performance standards for passenger car engine oils used in gasoline fueled engines. In short they absolutely participate & have a voice for overall oil specifications.

Minus the 100k tundra engines and the tacoma trans?
Every manufacturer has issues. Some more than others though. I’d rather have a Toyota or Honda using 16 than a Hyundai/Kia using 30.
Out of 11M+ annual unit sales. Still likely better than the legacy 3, although I agree its likely not up to Toyota Standards.
The Taco engine has been in the RX350 since 2021. Why we only hearing about issues now? Strange. Is engine assembly point the same?
The engine itself is fine. This issue was a manufacturing one - lazy workers not following procedure.
Because their engines are designed well and don't require "special" oil. Industry standard - API and JASO - are completely fine for them.
A misleading title and question. Most Asian manufacturers (as noted already) specify an API license here in the US. They do have "specs".
Honda used to have an oil spec in the mid 2000's with the first Acura RDX Turbo HTO0-06.
