Why is it so hard to find PUP?

Seems that only Walmart and Amazon stock Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. I know 0w20 isn't an overly popular weight but I can't even find it on Walmarts website (I hate Walmart so it's ok) but on Amazon I can only get the 5 quart jug, no single quarts. What gives?

0w20 is the new standard. I don't know the answer, but it did take them a long time to even make it available. It could be a supply issue. Maybe 0w20 users are econobox owners who shop by cost more.

Yeah, good bad or indifferent Pennzoil has given up on their Ultra lineup. It is not available anywhere in any stores. Even the online way if purchasing from Walmart has pretty much dried up.

Its hard to find Because its too much money and basically all the top names in synthetic oils are pretty much the same...I say this all the time if one is so much better than all the others they would market it as such...None of them do that because they can't..

Buy when the price is best now its Mobil 1 i believe Pretty good deal on good oil and i don't think Mobil plays the rip off rebate games because they know people remember and won't use their products.. I guess that is one reason why Mobil is the best selling synthetic.

Why are you hung up on a specific brand? There are plenty of quality oils available-just because one is a current BITOG darling doesn't mean you can't use something else and get results that are just as good.

I think Pennzoil shot themselves in the foot again. When the only difference between your better oils is the word "ultra" and the price difference is about $5 retail, of course consumers will gobble up the cheaper one.

The rebate runs all year long and has a pretty high limit per household so that could also be why it's not staying in stock.

I feel lucky to have enough bottles to last me a few years but I am anticipating that they will either discontinue or reformulate at some point.

Yes, that's been my point all along. When two products share identical specifications and approvals and the same requirement of OEM OCIs, and the only differentiation is price (and marginally cleaner pistons and a different bottle colour), then people will choose by that price differentiation (since it's the only tangible difference), and it won't do the oil company any favours.

I don't know why, but this is why I use PP because finding PU is next to impossible. I hate having to order online.

I think PUP is hard to find because his coloration makes him blend into the background
