Who's never traveled outside of the United States?

Just took this picture moments ago of some people commuting to work in South East Asia this Monday morning.

Is this something one wants to travel from the U.S and spend the money and vacation time to experience?

It was 10PHP when I rode the 'tri-cee' several years ago. Pretty effective way to get around in the city.
I could never trust the street vender food. It was Jollibee, McDo or local dine-in restaurants when I was at the PI.

Philippines does not provide confidence in any way for eat out food, from the street vendors to highest end restaurants.

The culture is zero waste. And for good reason. But it also means if a cooked steak falls on a filthy floor in the kitchen at high end steak house, the steak will still be served.

I priced that out

I don’t have $10000 laying around
It was $7,400.00 -one way (total) for the wife and I. Then went on a cruise. Actually booked it through the cruise line. It was a much better price.

Tesla was an electrical genius, but a poor businessman. He died broke living in a New York hotel room, where Westinghouse paid his hotel bill.

Looks pretty cool to me. One of our best memories of San Francisco was the cable car that we hopped on and the craziness of it. The people barely hanging on, the burly operator pulling on a large pole to brake it. I try to experience some local stuff when I travel.

The street food in Chongqing looked fantastic but I was warned to not eat any. With my sensitive stomach, I abstained.

It seems that you travel for extended periods of time in "exotic " places. Travel work is not as glamorous as people think but at the end of the day, it's quite the experience.

I’ve never understood the appeal of wanting to go outside the US. If I went somewhere outside the US I probably couldn’t get fast food as easy meaning I’d starve on the trip because I don’t eat anything else when I travel.

You'd be surprised. All the big American chains are prevalent in other countries, and they have menu items specific to those markets that you can't get here. The chicken wings they serve at McDonald's in Italy are pretty tasty.

And that's before you consider that each country has fast food chains of their own.

If nothing else, traveling brings perspective. In BITOG terms, what some have said is akin to say they like Fords (for instance), only, and have never, and will never own anything else. That's fine to like and be comfortable with what you like, but not having owned anything else doesn't carry the same weight as when speaking of other brands, when lacking that experience.

Hopefully, it also brings appreciation, and respect, for how others do things, their achievements, and how other people go about living (by choice or not) on this blue marble. As well as appreciation of how good we have it in the U.S.

For all that this country has achieved, it is but a youngster on the world stage. Standing in the ruins of a place like the Roman Forum, which flourished thousands of years ago, brings that to life. From that perspective, where we live now was in the sticks, both literally and figuatively. But one would have to have been there to see and realize it.

Been to 6 continents and 30+ countries (probably more, I should total it up). Wherever we can find a cheap business class fare we go! Being able to work remotely really opens up options.

I have flown first class to Venice, Italy. Got on board - got a drink and warm mixed nuts. Put on some (provided) slippers. Had a steak dinner. Watched a movie, went to bed with a blanket and eye mask/ear plugs and woke up four hours later and they were serving breakfast.

Anything past the Continental U.S.-I'm flying first class.

Life is too short.

Been to 38 countries-and all 50 states.

To another poster-travel insurance (medical, etc.) is always purchased.

A lie flat seat makes all the difference between a miserable flight and a pleasant relaxing one. Turn down service with a mattress pad? Yes please!

Observing daily life is part of the experience, but don't just focus on the mundane. Every country has some gems in it if you take the time to research, Philippines included.

If you only focus on dirt, pollution, poverty, and congestion in India, you will miss the Taj Mahal, Jaipur, Goa, and Kashmir.

OCONUS? Please explain.

Outside Continental United States
If only something existed on the internet that allowed people to look things up.... 🤔
And that's before you consider that each country has fast food chains of their own.
An example is QUICK in Belgium and France. Burgers, fries, chicken or fish sandwiches, cheese curds, milk shakes, etc .... just like any American fast-food restaurant.

I never traveled out of the USA until my 20's, and that was only into Tijuana. Since my early 30's, we've traveled around the globe, including all 50 States. Lived in European and South American countries for months at time. Visited many more countries, and never had an experience that I would call bad. But some places made us very grateful to live in the USA.

I can honestly say that if we had never traveled and experienced the world, our lives and perspective would be severely diminished.

There's a great big world out there, and as others have mentioned, most places you can buy crap fast food if you really have to have it.

I'm happy at my house, don't care to spend money going elsewhere.

I mean I haven't even been all over my own property yet, and I bought it about 3 years ago.
Well....you-are running tires (from your own posts) from the 70's.....so that kind of says why.
