Who's never traveled outside of the United States?

I could tell harrowing stories about my trips to Newark and Camden NJ and East ST Louis, Illinois, and how safe I felt in Amman Jordan, Ankara Turkey, and Ypres, Belgium.

Just avoid PAKISTAN, MYANMAR, NORTH KOREA and AFGHANISTAN. I would also skip IRAQ, RUSSIA, UKRAINE, VENEZUELA and BELARUS.
Newark and Camden are indeed interesting countries. I know this because I was a cop in Jersey City for years. It too is an interesting country.

We visited Germany in 2018. Absolutely loved it. At the time I said that if I were a lot younger I would have considered moving there.
Yes, I was there 25 years ago, and it was impressive. Efficient, clean, planned and organized, and things like almost all food products in re-usable glass containers returned to the grocery stores, no single use plastic bags either.
I think the difference is, there you can see that parts of your city/town/farm was there 800-1000 years ago, and if people don't screw things up, it will be there 800 year from now, maybe largely unchanged in character.
In North America everything is pretty new and there was always more land over the horizon until 100-120 years ago, so there's less respect for the environment, or good municipal planning.

If I went somewhere outside the US I probably couldn’t get fast food as easy meaning I’d starve on the trip because I don’t eat anything else when I travel.
That would be a shame, to go outside the US and yet eat that garbage there too. You should try food in other lands. In fact, don't eat that junk here either. You will be heading to an earlier grave , eating fast food often.

My father before he passed, was blind for the last few years. The man who would never listen to his kids when we were young, begged me to tell him stories about my trips and the things I saw. I'm sure most of you could have been bored to tears, but him and actually my mom (in and out of reality) seemed to enjoy listening to true travel stories.
Good on you @Pablo. Watching and being with your parents in their final days and hours is a powerful experience.

It’s just so good it’s hard to resist.

Over the course of my Air Force career I've been fortunate enough to have visited over 30 countries. While most were in an official capacity, I've done my share of tourism as well.

Fully agree most people should go abroad if willing and able, if for no other reason than to cement the fact we indeed live in the greatest nation ever to have existed.

Would especially love for the complaining class (the "America is unfair" crowd) to visit certain areas in Africa, the Middle East, Western Asia, and pockets of Central and South America. Most Americans simply have no idea what true poverty looks like. Upon seeing the truly poor, most of their opinions would flip in an instant.

Early grave in this economy? He needs at least 30 more years to save up for that!

Sleeper pick.
Looks like they have a McDonald’s too.

They even got a dollar tree 🤣

Hunger in America = getting food whenever you want

Has anyone gone out for the churro and soy milk breakfast in China? I was jetlagged the first time. I'm in some kind of haze.......how did these make it from Mexico??? But wow, nice carb bomb chased with high caf green tea, ready for the day!!
Churros were introduced to Mexico by Spain or a version of it anyway.

Love seeing the old buildings and archeological stuff.. That's one thing the US is lacking.

Lots of in interesting places not requiring a tour. If you have exhausted all of those I suppose?

A tour takes all the surprise and spontaneity out of it.
One might want to leave Syria on their bucket list until such time as normal travel can resume.
They have had a total change in regime, with Assad and the Russians driven out to conclude their long-running civil war, so this might come within a few years.
If we go to see Damascus, We might want to spend an hour or two at the Temple of Jupiter, for example, instead of fifteen supervised minutes and then everyone back on the bus.
