I need a set of splined conical seat lug nuts for a new set of winter wheels (12x1.5 thread). I’ve always bought whatever was cheapest on Amazon in the past, and while they work fine, they rust if you look at them sideways. What brands have you all found to resist rust best?

I have had the Gorilla brand lug nuts recommended. I bought a Gorilla set for my 1992 Toyota Pickup. They are “black chrome” and I like them. Since they are new, I don’t use them for winter. My winter tires are mounted on rusty steelies and I use my old OEM lug nuts which appear to have the same black chrome finish. The Gorilla product seems like a high quality set. Be care with Amazon though. Amazon just threw all 20 lug nuts in a box so they got lightly marred in shipping. Next time I might choose a recognized Gorilla dealer.

Years ago I had a set of Gorilla splined lug nuts on my Miata. I found that the special key/socket was responsible for damaging the lug nut surfaces and then some minor rusting. I switched to their smaller standard hex nuts so I could use standard metric sockets and less damage to the nuts. The standard hex design holds up much better to wear and tear and I didn't have to worry about having special sockets. Thin wall impact sockets are readily available if needed.

Gorilla or Mcgard. I have had both. Mcgard is probably the gold standard. Gorilla is great. Both beat Dorman, and Dorman beats ford and Toyota oem in that they are a solid lug and not a 2 piece unit.
