Which Redline for BMW Diff?

My 330i 6 speed currently uses Castrol SAF-X0 which unfortunately my BMW dealer can only get in 25Liter drums! Needless to say I need an alternative. Alot of people here recommend Redlin 75W90 for a substition. My question is: do I use the regular 75w90 or do I use 75w90NS? since my diff is an "open" design without LSD should I buy the NS version instead? Thanks!

I know that Amsoil recommends their standard, GL-5 rated, 75w-90 (FGR) gear lube as a replacement for the Castrol SAF-XO. This oil does contain LSD additives, so I'd guess the regular Redline 75w-90 would be the way to go. However I'd suggest a call directly to Redline to confirm....

Generally gear lubes with LSD additives work fine in regular diffs. However gear lubes without LSD additives do not work well in limited slip differentials....

I called Dave @ redline oil, he actually recommended 75w-90 as he believes it will run cooler than the NS version, so I placed an order for the 75w-90.

Makes sense, the regular stuff should have more additives than the "NS" stuff.

Castrol SAF-XO also works in LSD diffs...
But BMW uses the 75W140 SAF-XJ in the M's w/ LSD's.

I and many people I know are using redline regular 75w-90 with many miles on it in our e46 330's diffs.

Do a search on www.e46fanatics.com for redline 75w-90 and you'll find it's what the vast majority are using.

Congratulations on not buying into the "lifetime fill" garbage.

Redline 75w90 in our E46 325iT and Lubro Moly 75w90 synthetic in our E36 325is/E36 318ti. All seem like good oils to me.
