Bias alert.....I own 2 cars with the 1.4 Ecotec Turbo. The engines in both cars run great, and pull strong due to the turbo. The only complaint is that like most turbo engines, the oil gets dirty quick and I make sure I change it at least before 5k. All of my cars are port fuel injection, and given the horrors and complexity and carbon issues with GDI engines, I am glad at this point that I don't own one.
Disclosure; I have no idea how good or problematic the GDI engine is in the Fiesta. I would say though that is an area I would investigate for potential issues before you decide. Maybe others here on BITOG can comment more about that Ford engine specifically.

I'd probably get an Elantra given those choices.
But stuck between the two, I'd take the Focus.
