The socialist parasite ape is dead now, Merkava_4.

That is why I would stay away from it.

If it turns out that Citgo did indeed make the oil that's in my engine right now, I might have to seek out an alternate supplier to Walmart incase Walmart switches suppliers again. I can't ignore the fact that the engine has never ran smoother. A quick Google search turned up very little in the way of suppliers of Citgo SuperGard full synthetic except Sam's Club and I don't want to join that outfit just to buy oil.

After a 1 minute search, this popped up on Wal-Mart's website. It is a product q+a about Supertech Full Syn 10w30. Even this flunkie knew!

Q: "Is there enough zinc in this oil to use in a older flat tappet engines?

A: if you want more sync try quakerstate defy line, but it may cause check engine light, since it's not API certified (starburst label on front),I personally switched over to supertech synthetic exclusively, my cars run great, it's oil from citgo!

This answer was posted 3 months ago by someone with the name "quakerstatenumber1" (w t f?)

I'm sure both Citgo and Warren make very good synthetics.

Warren made oils could also have WNE (as well as WPP) stamped on the bottom.

Is this ST syn really $20.27 for the 5 quart jug in California? (vs. 17.47 elsewhere) or is the first picture a mistake?

It's a given. WalMart WILL switch suppliers again. They don't manufacture anything, they just have a supplier put their name on it.
A couple of weeks ago, the battery started to get weak in my pickup. I bought the pickup used and the battery is totally encased, so I had no idea what brand was in it. I took out Everstart battery, manufactured by Exide in May of 2006. I was especially surprised that it had no corrosion on it. WalMart hasn't had Exide make their batteries for years and I bet a few years from now they will have a different supplier.
As previously posted, if you see something in WM that you really like, buy it now, because next week it probably won't be sold there.

SirTanon, I've noticed the same thing. Citgo makes everything else and Warren makes the Full Syn 5w-20. The Conventional 5w-20 is made by Citgo too.

As far as Sam's Club having Citgo oil. I haven't seen it. According to their website they have the Syn Blend but it isn't available in my area.

They DOOOO have Trop Artic Syn Blend, $26 for 12 quarts! Best oil deal going for standard everyday prices.

I could care less who makes the oil because most basestocks have blood in them...

But if that upsets you, pay like a buck more for Quaker State synthetic. Or a couple bucks more for the others on sale like Valvoline and Valvoline MaxLife Syn or (gasp) Mobil 1...

Some of the Citgo stations here sell their line of oils, including the syn-blend 5W-30 for like $3.99, which is a decent bargain for gas station oil...

This. Over the years many people on here have used ST oil and have liked it. So regardless of if you're getting the Warren version or the Citgo version, it seems like you'll be getting a good oil either way. So the quality of the oil in the bottle shouldn't be a concern that prevents you from using ST.

Now if you have other reasons you don't want to use it, such as not wanting to purchase oil from a certain country, not wanting to support WM, or something else, that's up to you and you should make your purchase accordingly. But I've never seen anything to indicate that ST wasn't a decent oil at a good price, regardless of which supplier it came from.

For those SE New Englanders, Benny's now sells Citgo Full Syn 5w-20 and 5W-30, no club membership needed.

I'll be curious what the sale/rebate price is, because the syn blends are usually about $1.59/qt USD.

I'm sure you could find Citgo if you do want it, and the same with Mag1, if you want it.

Called CITGO customer service. Lady asked for the bar code off the 5 quart bottle.

I told her it was 6 81131 77044 6

She said she believes it's "one of ours."

huh?

Um, like repressive dictatorships in the Middle East? Bloody civil wars in Africa? Oil companies that [censored] all over the local inhabitants in Central America?

But yes, there are pure an true conflict free sources in Canada, Europe and the U.S...

Warren WSE (Guntersville AL) supplies all of ours. Of course we are only 20 miles from both the WalMart DC and 40 miles from the Blender.
