Hello all, just added a franchise at our dealership and with it comes an ExxonMobil deal where I can get it a reasonable price. We specialise in VAG as well though so was wondering what to keep in a barrel.

(504.00 507.00)

Mobil 1 ESP 5w-30 or
Mobil 1 ESP 0w-30

(502.00)

Mobil 1 0w40

(505.01)

PETRONAS 3000 AV 5w-40 or
Mobil Super 3000 XE 5w-30

I've always personally preferred the Castrol recommendation of 5w-40 505.01 rather than a 5w-30

Well you won't be seeing many DPF-equipped diesels in the coming years, so I would purchase Mobil 1 0W-40 which coveres the broadest range.

We see DPF's every day bud. Over in the UK we have variable servicing as well so you need to have the low ash long life oil in stock. I wasn't sure whether to stock the 5w-30 or 0w-30 though. I'm leaning towards the 5w-30 esp as it covers more cars.

Didn't see your location, friend. Sorry about that.

Here in the US they're taking the "environmentally friendly" route and crushing hundreds of thousands of cars.

lol, that's the logic of the environmentalists. They'll exterminate 90% of the worlds population to hit the low carbon goals if they have to.

Well, we went with Castrol Magnatec MP 5w-30 for our dealership since january 2016. Beore we used Castrol Magnatec OE 5w-40, but the latest oferings don't have 40W oils in the manuals anymore therefor the switch. We're tied to Castrol, btw...

What's the problem with that? They'd have my vote to reduce litter alone! Of course there might be fewer oils to chose from. Kira

Particulate filters will be finding their way onto direct injected gasoline vehicles in the near future so an oil like a VW 507 may be required for some gasoline cars

You like the 10% odds you'll be one of the chosen to remain?

Was the 0w-30 504.00 507.00 made for anything in particular?

That aside, many also believe that using a low SAPS oil has benefits in gasoline DI engines.

Low ash oil is used more and more these days in petrol/gas engines to protect modern cats. Fiat regularly spec ACEA C3 in their petrol engines. The Abarth 500's take a 10w-50 C3 over here!

10W 50 is heresy around here....just another example of CAFE instead of optimum oiling.
