Consensus on this site? Are you kidding me.

I would'nt be afraid of the Valvoline. You may also consider the Pennzoil HM as it is pretty good. I have also heard of someone here using a HDEO such as Rotella/Delo/Delvac 15w-40 to stop a leak but not sure if the vicosity range would be suitable for your application.

I wouldn't guarantee that any HM will stop a leak though.

The Valvoline Maxlife is good stuff, but so are some of the other HM oils, so unless you are a Valvoline nut like me, go with what you can get a good deal on. Might be a good idea to stick with the same brand for a while at least until the leak is gone.

There always is Auto Rx for leaks and general engine cleaning.

Here is an interesting post on HM oil fixing leaks, which describes the process similar to the Auto Rx process.LINK But don't be alarmed, Auto Rx or HM oils do not always result in temporary leaks during the seal reconditioning process. I have used both and not noticed any leaks.

Both Pep Boys and Kragen stores have MaxLife Stop Leak additive for free-after-rebate (rebate sticker on bottle). It looks to be a combination of seal conditioners and anti-wear additives - just add it to any regular oil (they specifically warn you NOT to use it with a high mileage oil).

I have SL-rated Castrol GTX High Mileage 10w-30 in my 4.7 Dodge since I seem to have a very minor leak around the front of the oil pan. I'm not sure but I think my mileage has dropped a little since the Castrol is a little thicker when hot compared to Mobil 1 10w-30.

It's thicker overall by a decent bit. 40C: Mobil 1 is 60Cst, GTX HM is roughly 82Cst. 100C, Mobil 1 is 10Cst, GTX HM is 12.1Cst

I wonder... these leaks... if they are small then maybe the Hi Mi will help? Not so sure.
I think they are good stuff though I only install one quart of Max Life with the rest All-Climate on my mother's Dakota.
