Not my cup of tea, but I'm not saying if they are or are not nice cars.
But IME, toyota fabrics are a bit harder and long wearing. The fabric in our previa looked as new when it was destroyed in the hurricane with 250k and almost 20 years of use.
So it's not like it's some exotic car or something where the long term value of the car is going to be drastically changed if the seats are slightly worn. It's an econobox, and any added expenses take away from the economy. That's the point.
And also, seat covers often don't fit really well. Yours looked good, Critics were really nice. Critics should also wear really well, and be easy to clean. After all, if not going for either of those criteria, what's the point in having covers? It does cost a good amount to get good fitting ones.
For my bmw, which has lemon leather interior, my belt kept transferring dye to the seat. I had my wife sew some elastic to a perfectly matched towel, and it protects at the right spot. And was cheaper and easier than any seat cover.
Op can do as he chooses, my 2c is that you have to pay to play... And what's the point?
