Coffee beans absorb odours, this is not really shocking.
And once it's done being an air freshener, then they make their coffee.
Local watering hole has the same keg.

We used coffee grounds in certain patient rooms for that purpose.
I think being a little more discrete in their display might instill a bit more confidence in their clientele.

I would bring this to the manager's attention. I would never buy coffee at that place after seeing this.

Air freshners are cheap, I don't buy into your theory. Probably left behind by a dumb kid working at the establishment. Could have started filling his pants before the coffee was made.
You brew your coffee with whole beans? Right into the filter?

I've been to more than a few breweries that have similar. Some are hack jobs while others are fine art masterpieces
I think it was Backshore Brewing in Ocean City MD that had some really, really well done keg to urinal contraption.
The absolute mother of all assumptions right here… lighten up.
The filter just laid there is a little janky, but it’s a great idea. Smells good, doesn’t require anyone to spray anything a few times a day, just needs a cute little container and it would look like a simple decoration.
