Looking the “best” 0w30 504/507 . It’s for a very high performance car in which that grade & spec is recommended from manufacturer. Few have said Mobil esp 0w30 is just about the best you can buy & few recommended shell equivalent . Does some brands of oils have higher oil consumption than others too ? What’s you all recommend . 0w30 grade is recommended & used from manufacturer btw so am sticking to there advise & recommendation . 👍🏻

Mobil 1 0w30 ESP

It's rebottled M1 ESP
Nope. I thought so too but additives don't match. It is Mobil, but the dealer stuff is a different brew. Appears to be the same situation as Castrol, the VW / Castrol 5w40 was not the same stuff you'd buy as Castrol 5w40 at Wally's.

Which car, which country?

I've never seen any VW group recommendation for a 0W-30 since 2004 or so.
Before that VW had VW 506 01 (so-called 'Longlife II') which was a low HTHS
0W-30. However VW 504 00/507 00 is either 0W-30 or 5W-30, meaning you
can use 5W-30 alternatively.

That said, while I personally won't use 0W-30 I would go for these if I had to:

- Mobil1 ESP 0W-30
- Ravenol VSW 0W-30
- Shell Helix Ultra Professional AV-L 0W-30 (probably same as ECT C2/C3 0W-30)

Generally the 5W-30 sisters M1 ESP 5W-30 and Ravenol VMP 5W-30 are more
stout and have lower Noack evaporation losses. VMP also has a higher HTHS of
3.7 mPas, which is higher than any VW 504 00 0W-30 I've seen so far.
At least in Europe there's a tremendously huge choice of VW 504 00/507 00 oils:

Folks - can we answer the question and refrain from speculation about the poster?

Let‘s assume the Koppen cfb, generally featuring mild summers (relative to their latitude) and cool but not cold winter, with a relatively narrow annual temperature range and few extremes of temperature.

Cost wasn't mentioned.

Best was the crux of the question.

And the oil has to be available globally, so let's skip the Walmart answers, they're unhelpful.
