I like Slacker and Pandora. Great quality streams, good artist exposure, including different things I never would have heard on regular radio.

There are a number of great "stations" on the internet that don't have the nice front-facing public web sites. Go to Shoutcast.com and search for something to listen to like these...

"Rush Radio" is my favorite single artist stream. For really GOOD worship music (not the usual Christian pop stuff that's hard to swallow) The Healing Stream and SoakingRadio.com have great offerings. The Alternative Christmas station is interesting too.

Padora. It will get repetitive at times. Rhapsody is good too. Rhapsody is better for specific artists.

I like Pandora, too, but I wouldn't call the stream quality "great". It's only 128 kbps mp3.

I also listen to some of the chillout/lounge channels on di.fm They stream in AAC+ format which even at 24kbps sounds better than 128kbps mp3.

QP, di & SkyFM never work for me. I've tried iTunes and Songbird, neither plays any of the stations on these music services. The link looks like it works, but no sound, ever.

I have tried to listen to slacker.com but since it only works in IE, I don't listen to it much. Shoutcast used to be my favorite source but Winamp became more and more bloated so I stopped using it as well.

Right now if I'm in a mood for radio, I paste the stream IP or URL address into Coolplayer+ Portable.

What media player do you use?

iTunes. I fought the good fight trying not to use it but all in all, it's the easiest to use IMO.

I downloaded the Orban AAC+ codec pack for WMP, that allowed me to connect to an 80's station from WA state from their web site, but no dice on iTunes on the podcasts either AAC nor MP3.

Hehe... I stay far away from the iTunes bloatware. On the PC I use a small app called XMPlay and an appropriate AAC plugin, but it's only for Windows. Can't remember if you're a Linux or Mac OS guy...

What happens when you paste this link to your WMP?

As for iTunes not playing it - I suspect they're blocking all the streams that don't pay them money.
