Continuing in the heavy diesel vs. gasser vein- the exhaust gas temps of the big diesels are several hundred degrees cooler than you'll see in a gas motor; this contributes directly to the heat loading of the turbo center section, and that's where your oil will get killed if it can't take the heat.
