What's the last thing you decided to buy for yourself?

I recently treated myself to an online order of some stupefyingly high-priced health food. Reckless, I know. But I'm that kind of guy.

With regard to my car and oil, I always buy the best, price be ****ed. I do my own work (driveway mechanic, nothing fancy), and I'm not going to bust my butt and then use cheap-o parts. I love my car, even if you don't love my car.

P.S. I forgot about the tequila. You want to know about that?

Filson put a store in Naperville, IL before I left there. I don't know anywhere that you can find better quality clothing or more expensive.
Yeah, they’re not cheap. While this isn’t a recent purchase, I bought this overnight bag at the Filson store in San Francisco. It is a favorite. I use it all the time.

And, as I type this, I’m wearing a pair of dry tin cloth, five pocket pants, and an Alaskan guide shirt from Filson.

They were in the WHA when I was a little kid. This part I can't remember--that is when they played in the Hartford Civic Center vs. Boston or Springfield. I have (maybe I should say I had as I don't know where it would be) a large circular patch with the harpoon. I can remember a classmate Chris singing Brass Bonanza when scoring while playing street hockey, and back then, it annoyed me! But today? It's likely the best goal song ever made....

Thanks for the memories, I loved hearing that unique goal celebrating song. I heard it often, as I was a die hard TML fan and never missed a game. Ron Francis used to destroy us and with class, a legend. Further, I forgot that he joined the TML at the end of his playing career, I stopped following the TML closely after the player lockout and never looked back.

The recent Hockey Canada scandals have really put a damper on my interest - that, and the standard old man rant - "There's too many teams and ya can't remember who plays for who any more".

I had a 30 year old el cheapo electric impact wrench that couldn’t loosen a 3/8” bolt. I decided to buy this:

You better be careful tightening any size bolt with this. It has a stupid amount of torque, around 850 pound feet.
I remember the day a belt sander pulled me across and over the edge of a work table.

Funny I was in limbo during the 8 years that I began working, so I chose to root for the Canadiens, even drove up and watched games (a mere $19-$27 CAD with the exchange being as favorable as 1.65:1). They had recently won the Cup (the last time), but that ended when I moved to Philadelphia in 1999, where I became a Flyers fan and have been ever since.

What I didn't know was that I would gain in-laws and relatives in the Toronto area, and even travel there for work. I have coworkers in, Mississauga and Brampton. Prior? I had only been to Toronto twice. So now, I would root for the Leafs when not the Flyers. My son's first authentic jersey is a Leafs jersey given by my wife's aunt as an infant. It gets even more interesting where the only NHL game my son (aged 11) has ever seen, was NYR @ TOR in Dec. 2019, as my wife's cousin worked for MLSE and gave us the tix.

So long story short, I'd love to see the Leafs win it all, and see the Leafs Nation rejoice!!

Now this guy has quite the setup!

It's awesome when we identify something as our favorite...the feeling :giggle:

Back on topic. The most recent “gift to myself” was this Seiko. An Astron. Chronograph. Second time zone. Titanium case and bracelet, solar powered, GPS enabled. It knows the time zone you’re in and will set itself to local time by pushing a button.

Figured all that would come in handy as I change time zones often. Yes, I love the Filson, wear it often, but this is my new “work” watch.

Something tells me you are filson rich. :ROFLMAO:

It looks like the crown is unscrewed. You better tighten that up.
That’s actually a bit of a story. The watch was bought used. It was collaboration between Filson and Shinola.

The crown was a little wonky from day one. Eventually, it wouldn’t screw down at all.

I shipped it to Shinola for repair.

They replaced the case, kept all the unique “Filson” bits original. The crown is now perfect. They replaced the battery while they had it.

No charge.

Ordered a Smith and Wesson Shield Plus optics ready today. It'll be rotated with my SW 686 Plus deluxe.
