O.K., O.K... I give...

After all of this ribbing, I'll resolve to change my oil every four months.

Who's ribbing???

I STILL want your oil...

You know what you guys... I've been lying to you and I apologize.

I just looked over my maintenance spreadsheet and found the following OCIs since I purchased the truck back in MAR of '05

Mileage at oil change:

75,335
75,688
76,629
77,583
78,224
78,720
79,225

I still might a bit anal retentive, but obviously not obsessive compulsive... right?

I'm not sure that many/often oil changes are even healthy for your engine. Most engine wear is done the first 1K after an oil change.

As odd as it may seem, you are increasing engine wear using that formula. Your engine will last longer waiting for 3K intervals.

I would echo the advice about occassional long drives.
Short trip driving is hard on a vehicle.
If you take it out for a 30-45min drive, say 1 time each month.....or 2 months if it is not going out otherwise, run long enough to warm things up, you will get moisture out of the engine oil, power steering fluid, and tranny fluid.
It will also dry out the exhaust system, and get the fuel out of the engine oil (fuel into the engine oil is common with short trip driving).
This program will give you the enjoyment of a nice drive on a nice day, and keep your vehicle in great condition.
