HI Gang,

I read this on Bimmerforums.com, this evening and offer it for your reading. Sometimes you gotta do something like this;

One day I was in a Home Depot parking lot sitting in my car reading a flyer when a truck pulls in next to me opens his door and slams it right into mine. He gets out and notices me and says oops sorry and walks on. I really didnt want to go to jail for opening a can of WOOP-*** on him so I just nodded and gritted my teeth. Soon as he was gone, I got out reviwed the damage, went to my trunk, opened my tool box got out my screw gun and six 3" metal screws. I looked arround and then I SCREWED both of his ******* doors shut. **** that felt good.
I had the DENT DOCTOR remove 7 dents for about $200 bucks.

Well, I'd say that it was excessive ..but it surely felt better then sucking up one more insult. There's only so much a person can take and sometimes they're going to blow a gasket. At least he focused his anxiety on the offending object. Most just look for an opportunity to vent their displaced anxiety.

I don't think that I can get this cranked up about something like this to do what he did to get over it.

Excessive or not, this event should send a message to those that are responsible for these type of accidents. Rather than just walk away possibly offer to take care of the dammage, or, you might get scre*ed.

I agree with JavaMan myself. You can't have anything nice anymore without someone messing it up. My car has plenty of other people's door dings and it ticks me off. It is called "respect" and "responsibility" which seems to be few and far between these days.

If,in fact, that story is true, good for him for taking a stand.

I only would have done the same thing had the guy refused to give me his insurance info, but would probably have used a blow torch to seal it shut.

he should have left a note on his door, like a post-it that said "oops"

guy wouldn't have known who he was cause he didn't care - no lic plate # or anything, probably wouldn't even have remembered what car he hit with his door cause his cowboy hat was too big to see it.

People who care little about their own cars and just as much about others' cars are a big neusance. Unfortunately, there are plenty of them out there and you can't always escape from their carelessness. That's one advantage of having a company car - I don't park in the far end of the parking lot whenever I go somewhere because I don't care if someone dings it.

Two very large differences in people. A careless act that may well be accidental, rarely one hits another car on purpose.

The second person quite a malicious individual performing a purposeful act. Also quite a loser to post there idiocy for the world to read.

Different perspective on the two guys.

The first carelessly damages another's property and walks off with a half hearted "oops, sorry".

The second is innocently wronged by a guy who did not take any responsibility for his mistake. No "Here is my number I'll pay for the damage I did." No responsibility. What if he damaged the siding on his house or broke out a window? Still an Oops?

The second guy did overreact by a little but the thick-head oaf who cannot or refuses to learn how to open a car door was in the wrong and started this.

I tend to park away from other vehicles but absolutely do not hit peoples cars weather I'm next to a Mazerati, Cadillac, or a rusty old "junker". It's their stuff so I have no right damaging it.

IMO if the guy who got his door dinged wanted revenge, he should've caused equal damage to the other guys car. Screwing both of his doors shut sounds like it would cost a lot more to fix than a door ding. But then again, i don't know much about body work.

careless or inconsiderate? when parking in a parking lot it seems reasonable to expect that there might be adjacent vehicles. it is a PARKING lot.

how hard is it to use a door?

Common courtesy and common sense arent at all very common anymore. Every time I open a car door in a parking lot I make a concious effort to not hit anyone elses car. Even if it is a piece o junk.

My car is old and I dont care so much anymore, but I admire my girlfriend, all 5'3" and 100 lbs of her, because her car is nice, and I have seen her start screaming at a 6'0" 200 lb man because he dinged her car door. She doesnt take **** from anyone, especially when it comes to her pristine car.

BTW if you ever get a door dent, they have companies out there that do paintless dent removal for about 75 bucks per dent. When they're done you dont even know that it was ever dented in the first place. Takes about 15-30 mins, depending on location of the dent. We have a guy that comes into our dealership every Tuesday and pops dents on customer cars for about 80 bucks a throw. I had him pop two door dings out of my girlfriends car and he only charged me 50 bucks, but that was a side job for him, so it not only saved me money but it made him 50 dollars richer. After he was done, you couldnt even tell where the dents were.

It was not way too excessive. I drive an 36 year old antique in good shape and make it my business to park away from everyone else, even if it means more walking. You would not belive the idiots that have to park close and ding my car when there are many other spaces available closer to the store.

I have been known to put a boot into all 4 doors of one who dinged me and left a note telling them hope then enjoy the dents in the tin can car when they couldnt park two spots away to not dent my door.

I go to great extremes not to dent others, but if they wont play nice, no longer will I.
