Check engine light came on in my wifes Sentra. Got codes scanned at Advance Auto and they came back P0171 System too Lean (Bank 1) and P0174 System too Lean (Bank 2) and pending code P0171 System too Lean (Bank 1). What would be the cause of this and how do I fix it? We have had the car not even a week and the light came on after I fueled it. Is this something I can fix or should I take it back to the dealer and get it fixed under the warrenty? Thanks for any help.

What mileage on the car? Sounds like both Oxygen sensors.
82,000 miles. So I only have 2? Anything else that would cause this?
Check all your pcv vacuum lines.
Thanks for the help and quick responses. Tomorrow I will clean the maf and poke around looking for disconnected vacuum lines, and I will change the pvc valve to see if any of those things cut it cause those aren't covered under my warranty. If I cant get this light out tomorrow, Monday morning back to the dealer it goes.
if it was the maf or an oxygen sensor, it would throw a code saying somthing was wrong with those items.

Master Acid, I only bought the car about a week ago, so as far as I know 82,000 miles are on the filter. I will try that also, Thanks
Trouble codes doesn't always give the specific cause of the problem. It could very well be the fuel filter but could be a bad fuel pump also. Also could be a dirty MAF or vacuum leak. Best thing to do is make a list of possible causes and start with the cheapest things first.

Okay, I replaced the air and fuel filters, and cleaned the maf sensor, light still on. There is a vacuum line in there that I cant find where it goes. It is the one connected to the air tube right in front of the master cylinder.

Yeah, used car. I wonder how much got worked into the price of the car for the case of armor all that was used on the entire car. Out of 8 car lots visited, the engines looked like that on 5 of the lots.
Any one have any idea where that vacuum line goes? It is the one held in place by the bracket on the breather near the plug for the maf sensor. It looks like it connects at the other end to something on the transmission. Would this line being disconnected cause the light to come on? I would really hate to bring this thing to the dealer and the reason that **** light is still on is cause that line was disconnected. I have the battary disconnected now and we will see what happens.
97F150, if that's a vacuum hose, it indeed could be the cause of the lean codes. Or if it goes into the intake tube between the MAF and throttle body. This would give the engine more air than the MAF actually sees, and lean out the injector pulses.
If you can't figure out where it goes, try plugging it up, and see if the CEL goes away....

Thats what I was thinking. Will try that tommorrow and drive it around for a day or so just to see what it does.
Possibly related to bad gas. Just an idea seeing your from La.
