When I was chaging it 4 years ago I could get Dyno for $1.99 and Mobil 1 and PP for $ 5.99

What the heck happened ?

You need to change where you shop.

Agreed. Just picked up 2 5 qt jugs of Peak Synthic for $22.99 each then I get a gift card for $10.00 each. That comes out to $2.60 a qt.

Not a hard retailer to find either, Advance Auto Parts.

The topic is the high prices for quarts of oil !

Somebody not absorbing content.

LeakySeals, let me apologize. I can tell by the tone of your post that I’ve offended you in some way. As a peace offering I propose that we start a Women’s Auxiliary, to the BITOG forum, for the discussion of milk prices. Maybe, in time, they could better absorb your assertion that the price of milk somehow explains the spike in the price of a quart of oil. It's beyond me.

Not milk, rather corn. And while oil is not gas, corn is a main ingredient in gas now, at least corn-based ethanol is. See, corn requires to be grown, and some feel the drought is killing or otherwise impeding the growth of corn, reducing supply while demand remains constant, and raising price, irrespective of other factors that determine the price of gasoline. That said, here in Lynchburg its $3.25 a gallon at down the street.

Milk, oil = Off the mark; Corn and gas is more of a link.

As to oil prices, Walmart. It might be creeping up but its still lowest there, to the best of my knowledge.

I believe the original question was "What the heck happened to oil prices !!!"

UMM, lets see, we are the one of most oil rich countries in the world yet imported about 45% of our oil last year.

And for all you guys think it's the evil capitalistic oil companies manipulating prices, most of the worlds supply is controlled by government/state run entities. A good portion of which pretty much despise us. http://www.eia.gov/energy_in_brief/world_oil_market.cfm
