What supplier does VW use for turbos?

Probably Mitsubishi on that one, it will have MHI (Mitsubishi Heavy Industries) on the id plate and be made in Holland or Greece. Good turbo unit.
IHI Turbos are P.O.S... Learned that on a VW 2.0TSi...twice.
43k on the IS20 upgrade on my 1.8 beating in it tuned...no drama.
1.4's use BMTS, which is originally Bosch-Mahle Turbo systems, but has been sold to a private equity firm

Right on. The first turbo also had tons of play in the shaft at 115k miles, and contributed to high oil consumption.
VW has traditionally used KKK turbos - which is Borg-Warner. Or so I think.
From what I remember they were used mostly on older diesels
There is a Honeywell turbo on my 2016 Passat with the 1.8 EA888 gen 3 engine.
Interesting - the gen 3 MQB 1.8 EA888 in my Golf is an IHI turbo?
Yeah, that's odd as it's the same engine. I can see the "Honeywell" stamped into the aluminum turbo housing up by the firewall.
