I recently had my intake manifold gaskets on my 98 chevy 5.7L replaced due to an internal coolant leak. The truck was filled with 5W-30 Chevron Supreme after the repair. 1. Should I add AutoRx or Lube Control to this oil change in case there is some residual coolant in the oil.? 2. Should I do an oil analysis on this oil change to see if the leak is in fact fixed or should I do one on the change after that in case there is some residual coolant in the oil from the repair itself? 3. How many miles should I go before having the analysis done. Thanks for any input. Wayne

1. Yes 2. No - would not tell you much because of the work. 3. At least 3000 miles after the next oil change. this milage is kind of a minimum for me and I would not change the oil, just wait for the analysis.

1. Would not hurt. If you believe in it. How many miles did this go before fixed? If this were me, I'd change the oil and go a VERY short OCI, just before change I would put some cleaner in there something, even Seafoam or MMO or something to thin it out... Then drain and fill with fresh oil. 2. If you want to test the oil, wait next change or do the flush and then test in 1-2 K, then again in say 4-5K. 3. at least 1-2K, it's hard IMO to get results any shorter... And when you have a problem or when you do a flush, IMO if the motor is contaminated, the next OCI or so will show higher wear metals...
