Which is your favorite? Why is it your favorite?

Personally I'm using Lucas PSF in my 97 Buick Park Ave because a Power Steering Sports specialist/tech/mechanic recommended it to me years ago. He actually recommended Swepco PSF, but no stores in town sell Swepco in my town. His 2nd recommendation was Lucas PSF. I bought Lucas because it's available at many stores in my local area.

After a compmete flush and refill... I immediately noticed the Lucas working much better (quieter) than my old AC Delco PSF had been. However, I don't know if that was because Lucas was better than AC Delco, or just because the Lucas was new fluid while the ACD was 65K miles old.

Now it's 14 years and 35K miles later. The Lucas still seems to be working well. Only slight noise. However, after 14 years it might be time to replace fluid.

Should I use Lucas again or something else? Are there better options? What do you prefer and why?

Here are some possible contenders I've found. You may have info about these, or know of others to recommend.

Lubeguard
Redline
LG red (whatever that is?)
Lucas
Amsoil
CHF11 (whatever that is?)
Maxlife

Most Euro cars run on that.
So, CHF11 it is.

I’m leaning towards anything new would probably be a significant improvement. Nothing negative about any of the products you mentioned but new power steering fluid after 65,000 miles can make a difference. Just my humble opinion.

My GX got some relatively old Dex 3 quarts a few years ago. Got more on the shelf.

It seems my cars with hydraulic power steering are all beaters, so once I ran out of old ford transmission fluid from the 90's, I just put in whatever tractor fluid is handy. The pail of Petro Canada duratran has a couple litres left so that's what I used last time in Focus. Probably a bit higher in viscosity than is ideal at -30C, but that's a rare event for me. No noises, or foaming in the reservoir so I'm calling it good.

I put in whatever the owner's manual says, or whatever the PSF cap says. Never had a problem. The key to longevity in a PSF system IS clean PSF. Flush it all out once a year..... No different than a closed hydraulic brake system. Brake fluid attracts water/moisture....... That's it's nature, no way around it. Synthetic or non. No difference. Gotta flush it every 2 years at a minimum. From the master cylinder to the rear wheels. Yeh, you'll spend some time and a little it of money on maintenance up front, but in the end it will pay itself off by not having any problems in the end. Case in point : 03' Toy Solara. Changed PSF once a year since new. Dex III . Pump is fine and rack is fine. 22 yrs.
