If you had to choose one...
AND, which is least important?

That it says 'synthetic' on the bottle

The mfr approvals (dexos, MB-229, VW-502 etc)

regulatory certifictions (API, ACEA, ILSAC etc)

The approvals it advises it 'meets'

Brand trust

Manufacturer approvals
Regulatory certifications
Approvals it says it meets
Marketed as a synthetic oil

In that order. Though I don't necessarily agree that any or all of these speak to the "quality" of the oil as in your title.

You are correct. I should have presented it as, 'Of these...'

If I were given one guess as to your choice, that was it.

But how does that reveal the oil's quality? Most oils go on sale now and then, both good and bad.

Hey, it's your world, list however you'd like dparm.

Price is most important! No way a $5 dollar quart will outperform a $20 quart of racing oil.

Think with your dipstick Jimmy!

Given that any current spec oil is a pretty decent oil, the above is a real consideration.
OTOH, I prefer my FAR Ultra to my FAR Maxlife Nextgen or FAR G-Oil, although I've used all three and have two of the three in cars right now.
