What oils have shown great UOA's in Toyotas V6's?

My 92 V6, 3.O L had good results for 7500 mile intervals with Amsoil 10W30 until 150,000 miles. Then it developed a head gasket leak and now I use dino with 4000 mile intervals and no UOA. At 190,000 miles not worth cost of an analysis. The Toyota V6 can beat an oil up though as shown by their sludge machines of the late 90s and early 2000s

Oh to have a 95 Camry (or other equivalent Toyota). My sister's 95 Camry recently went the 300k miles w/ "regular" chges of dino. Those were Toyota's "bullet proof" days.

Which Toyota V6? 3.0L, 3.4L, 4.0L or the camery V6? Older Toyota V6's were pretty harsh on oil but the 3.4L's from 1995.5-2004 have been alot eaiser on oils. The older moble one synthetics show great numbers and im sure pp will show the same.

ARB1977 - everything I've heard on Toyotas seem to be the opposite of this - I don't have the infamous engine numbers in front of me - but starting in the mid-late 90's Toyota's 6 cylinder that was used in Camry's, Siennas and Lexus RX300s, and also one of their 4 cyl. engines used in the Corolla, were (are) brutal on oil. I've been watching the Toyota sludge issue play out over the web since soon after buying my 98 Sienna in 2001. Stuff used to keep me up at nite! In M1 I trust.

its a tacoma 3.4 v6 4x4.. i bought it with 52k miles and switched to mobile 1 regular syn 5w30 for roughly 40k miles. i have 90k miles on her now. i may go up to mobile 1 syn 10w30 or the mobile 1 syn EP 5w30.. i need something a little thicker here in the heat of summer. what do you guys think?? oh and how long can i run mobile 1 synthetic in 5w30 and 10w30? i change at 5k miles and i drive ALOT! can i extend these intervals out to 6 or 7 miles on the same filter (yota oem or purolater pure one) thanks guys

You'll probably last a good 4 to 5 hundred thousand following that procedure. Check the UOA forum, M1 and Toyota engines produce some really good results.

i have checked but still not sure what is the safe zone on running mobile 1 regular syn in 5w30 or 10w30? can i go over 5k miles and the oil still be good to go?? if i can squeeze 6 or 7k miles i would be happy..there are no write ups for the 3.4 liter v6 in the tacomas

Mike, note that M1 (reg) 10w30 is thin stuff at op. temps. It's heading towards 20wt at 100degC (see M1 web site - and the product data sheets). M1 (reg) 5w30 is significantly thicker at op. temps than their 10w30 (and only slightly thinner at 40degC).

Meanwhile, that whole thick/thin oil for hot summers is a complex issue. See AEHAAS' article on the subject -

Mike, if you do decide to go thick (at op. temp) on your 30wt, then the M1 HM 10w30 is "thick". Or if you want to stay "regular" then putting one qt 0w40 M1 in with the 5w30 would get you there as well (same SuperSyn additives, so should be ok). But once more, according to Haas, you might want to reconsider that "thick for summer" issue.

Mikeg5: I have a 2005 Highlander V6 and have good test results at 10k mile intervals with Amsoil 5-30 ASL. I posted test results with Havoline 5-30 at 3,000 miles and Amsoil 5-30 ASL at 10,000 miles.
