What oil for an LV3 V6? 2014 Silverado

Previous owner neglected it. The last time the oil was changed was 3 years and 1 months ago, and about 15000 miles

I have no idea about the oil change before that, and without an ouiji board, I can't ask

All of the fluids look like ass though

3 years?????? This might be a GOOD candidate for Valvoline restore and protect Or at least run some oil flush before changing the oil

I dont think that generation of 4.3 had the AFM/DOD garbage that causes the lifter/camshaft failures

Unfortunately it does. It can drop down to 4 cylinders.

Not all of them were, The lv1 in the Vans did not have displacement on demand


That being said, in doing research The lv3 in my truck has proven itself to be much more reliable when it comes to The displacement on demand. It's very rare to hear of failures. Additionally, even though it uses the same 6l90 used across the board, they use a different torque converter and those transmissions are generally considered good in this application.

It's interesting how close to V8 power the V6 makes, but doesn't suffer from many of the same issues.

I had initially wanted to go that route. But the Walmart I went to didn't have restoring protect in 5W30.

I ended up with mobil one extended performance. Hopefully next time I can try restore and protect
