I've never seen it mentioned at all here,is it junk or some undiscovered gem???
I think Kendall GT-1 5w-30 synthetic may be a very good oil and am considering switching to it. Consider this comparison to M1 5w-30 and Syntec 5w-30:
1.All three are rated to GM6094M, low temp pumpability, and GM4718, Corevette, standards. Same API rating. No difference;
2. Viscosity index on Syntec is best at 171. Kendall and M1 are virtually the same at 166 to 167;
3. Kendall has a better flash point at 446. M1 is 435 and Syntec slightly higher at 437;
4. Kendall has a slightly better HT/HS rate of 3.1, than the 3.08 for M1. Syntec is anemic at 2.92;
5. I don't know if this matters, or what it really means, but Syntec has lower 40C and 100C viscosity numbers of 53 and 9.7. Kendall and M1 are virtually the same at 57/56 and 10.1/10.0;
6. HT/HS ratios are virtually the same on M1 and Kendall at 3.246 to 3.258. Syntec comes in 3rd at 3.321;
7. M1 wins the pour point award at -45C, with the other two equal at -39C;
8. I was not able to get cold cranking viscosity numbers for M1. Syntec merely says
My only complaint with Kendall was that I could not buy at Wally world or other automotive stores. In this regard, I have to drive to Sacramento or have it shipped.
Of course, if I go get it, I could get Baldwin filters at the same place, and then go to that neat bar and grill down on...hmmm.....
