Hi everybody I'm looking at an oil change soon and was looking for some recommendations. Ok here's my info 2005 Pontiac grand prix GT Any oil that meets gm standard GM6094M and displays API certified symbol, 5W-30 (synthetic or 0W-30 if it's cold) I live in southwestern Ontario so cold winters and hot summers. Depending on time constraints and mood I drive all ways hard easy fast and slow hehehe and it's mostly city driving. So far I have had no problems with my car it's been running good. I have no real preference on brand, and with 85000 miles was thinking of synthetic or high mileage, but that's why I'm here seeking the wisdom of the gurus of the forums! Thanks for you help with this first time poster!

Go to a Petro-Canada dealer, and buy a case of Petro-Canada 0W-30 synthetic. Awesome price when bought by the case, and has great cold-weather specs!

It's tough because GM's don't use 20 weight oils, and Ontario is cold. I'd go with AddyGuy's recommendation... though I shudder to think of what an " awesome price " is in Ontario.

welcome Skippy! I am sure you could use a 20 weight in the winter. That 20 weight would still be thicker than a 5W30 would be in the summer.

That would be fine also, any good 0w30 will work year around.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate everyone taking the time to answer. Definitely gives me something to think about. Papa bear I'm a next door neighbor in the big town of Wheatley
