what is your take on this??

My 2002 Ford focus with 62,000 miles was run the first 30,000 on motorcraft 5w20.....the last 30,000 on pennzoil platinum 5w20 all with 4,000 mile OCI


My wifes 1996 Ford Escort has 120,000 all on a steady diet of Valvoline Maxlife 5w30.. The other day at work I shined my light down in the valve covers on both cars and would you believe the Escort was SPOTLESS!! VERY VERY impressed!! My Focus had the varnish and all that good stuff! DO you all think I should switch my Focus over to the Maxlife or continue my diet of Pennzoil Platinum?? This really has got me thinking!!

Any comments would really be great!!

Generally there is every reason to believe the Motorcraft 5w20 (synthetic blend) and the PP 5w20 (synthetic) are better oils. Maxlife has more detergents??

In what ways are the cars operated? I assume you have different morning commutes...does your car get a chance to reach full operating temp? Is your PVC system up to par? Do you drive your car harder? Too many variables IMHO to make any conclusions from this.
