Visible+ Plan downtown STL on an iPhone 15 Pro

I don't pay for Verizon UW, so the best I've seen is around 80 down, 85 up.

I wonder if your blazing download, and regular upload, and ping time (there's a bit of latency there I usually see 10-20 ms) is typical of what's called ultra wideband

At work:

Comcast Business (Probably $1000/mo)

290 Down
40 Up

At home:

Spectrum Home Internet ($79/mo)

415 Down
24 up

Consumer Cellular (ATT network):

28 Down
9 Up

Anyone checking this, at least in my experience, bandwidth or congestion can vary speeds all over the place. On VZW 5g at 10am, I only get 24 Mb/s down and 8 Mb/s up. I have gotten MUCH faster VZW speeds in the downtown area nearby and even faster in Columbus OH so they definitely prioritize their capacity.

Certainly.

I was sitting in a Starbucks waiting on someone, so I thought I'd take a snapshot of what I had on three different wireless networks at the place and time.

I didn't have my wife's Boost Infinite (Dish Network) device to run a test on their network.

I was just curious. I was actually surprised Visible+ (VZN) was faster than Mint Mobile (TMO) but none of them were anything to complain about.

Now, had STL City SC been playing (I was a few blocks from their field) my results would likely be far different.

And yet it was the fastest ping time of the three tests I did.
To be fair, I should have run three tests of each and provided the average values. But, the Mint Mobile account has a data cap and I didn't want to use 10-20% of my monthly allowance for the test.

Visible+ and my work provided AT&T phone don't have such caps.

I wouldn't be without data as I have Mint and Visible+ on the same phone and use cellular data switching. I just selected the cellular network I wanted for data before running each test.

Believe it or not, my realistic test is backing up my pics to amazon photos. At home which is FiOS (old grandfathered) 100/100, it's blazing fast. On almost all public wifis, it's slow to not even being able to complete. On 4G/5G, it varies.

I know at work it's a brave new world. Gone are the days of going to the internet directly while some app monitors it. Today, it's complete inspection of the packets, sometimes even encrypt/decrypt.

In the old days, our work Verizon devices on unlimited plans, slowed at 22 gb. Today, it's 100 gb. And you guessed it--some employees complain and they surpass that. I find almost zero business need to be doing 100 gb in a period. My personal does about 3-5 gb now.

Funny, I have a company issued hotspot that's 60 gb unlimited, and I do almost 0 gb per month. No need. When I started in 2010, I was given $140/mo. stipend. Today, it's only $40.

You’ll get a different result any place you travel because of the location of the nearest cell tower, equipment on that tower as well as traffic on that tower. Also for others in here you have to make sure to turn off the Wi-Fi on your cell phone in order to test the speed of your cell company service.

I do like that speed smart website !

This is T-Mobile Cell service,
In addition we only have 2 bars at our house but our phones use WiFi though for this thread for the fun of it I turned WiFi off and it's sad🫤

Same test using our home WiFi with cell phone;

Tested inside the Hawaii Convention Center with just the cleanup crew. It is one of the few places with 5G+ and was blown away by the upload speeds. Given where a lot of big events happen here (kawaii kon) I wouldn't be surprised (needing massive upload speed to share anime cosplays.)

I have an S22+ on AT&T - at the house I'm usually pretty fast - at least 200/25 on a slow night
I also have an iPhone 11 (LTE only) on basic Visible (Verizon) and get somewhere around 80/10 - when it deprioritizes it's still very usable at 20-25 down and 3-5 up

I like having both. I'm out in the woods a lot and sometimes my cheapo $20 LTE is better than my fancy expensive AT&T

It's cool to see 800 down and 500 up but it really doesn't do anything that 50 down and 10 up can't do with a phone, unless it's like @Tomioka and thousands of people all interneting at once.

Right now at work (huge concrete and metal building where service really can stink) during a peak hour, AT&T shows 96 and 1
Visible LTE is 6 down (yes, 6) and 9 up - but our wifi is like 500/500 so no big deal.
