I noticed slight damage maybe 2-3 months ago, but it seems to have gotten really bad as of late. I get a wax once every 9 months, I would say. What is this, what caused it, and how do I fix it? Thank you.

Without being able to feel it and see it in person I am unsure as to how to fix it. Almost looks like clearcoat failure but I am not sure.

It looks like the original color has been worn off and you see the primer underneath.

I am going to guess it is your Saturn. GM has always had a problem with dark charcoal gray metallic paint. They use some environmentally safe water based paint.

Last I knew a mustang was not a Saturn or GM product.

I didn't pay attention to the title. Mustang wasn't listed in the body of the post.

Yep, that's what it looks like to me.

This.

only a removal of the failing paint and clear and repainting will fix this.

Naw, you can get that back. Go to autopia.org or Meguairsonline.com and post pics in the forum. They will guide you the best.

There is no fix other than repainting. Most waxes only last a matter of a few weeks so waxing every nine months didn't help things.
