What is the difference between GMC & Chevy truck ?

Sometimes GMCs have nicer trim levels. Maybe because they are usually sold alongside Buicks.

I prefer the styling of the GMC

There's not a real difference mechanically speaking.

No differences, just sometimes GMC's have nicer interiors and wheels.

GM really should figure out how to combined them, talk about overlap.

I'd really wish they would bring back the SS Silverado too, but that's not happening.

I personally like GMC better. GM Kept GMC around because a lot of people that would buy GMCs would not buy a Chevy if GMC went away.

But I do like the styling on the GMCs.

The ONLY difference between a Sierra and a Silverado is cosmetic. It is the same truck underneath the sheet metal. As others have said you might get a slightly upscaled trim level wiith a GMC but it is the same truck as a Silverado. If you like the looks of a Sierra over a Silverado buy the GMC as that is the only thing that is different. Sierra's seem to run a little higher price wise.

I always thought GMC was more commercially focused. Maybe no longer. But at one time they had heavy duty options available. Heavy duty axles, 4 bolt blocks etc.?

FALSE.

it's ignorant thinking like this that has allowed GM to sell the same truck under 2 different names.
I read an interview once w/ a GM engineer and he was asked this same question. he said he hears things like "GMC has thicker sheetmetal" and he just laughed. he said the trucks are the same.
