What is something you learned about your car after you owned it?

I learned I don’t like all the alarms and sensors Toyota has on everything. The vehicle complains at you about everything. Even before you do anything wrong. It’s just like my ex wife. Didn’t like her either.
Toyota—retrofit hooks for floor mats, very important stuff

BMW—E92 front mats from whom Weathertech supplied the factory OE, not cut properly and gets caught in the clutch all the time. No problem let’s work on having the car provide heat when engine is off

P.s. I never met your ex-wife but I don’t think I like her either

Thought of another as I didn’t get the joke at first. On a used LS430, tool kit always missing—empty slot. Someone said go on eBay you’ll likely be buying your own back. It is super expensive list price but I snagged one for under $50–flashlight batteries still in plastic wrap never installed. It was a nice addition to the full spare tire on OE rim with grease crayon markings from factory

The location of the passenger cup holder on my 02 Camaro, I never sit over there so never noticed it and assumed the passenger just held their beverage; until a girl from work pulled it out while we were coming back from lunch.

Also learned GM hasn't invested in baffles or at least some electronic damper for the fuel sending unit, the 69 Camaro I drove in high school would have the fuel gauge plummet if your tank was low and you slammed the brakes sending gas sloshing up front. The first time it happened I thought I'd gotten a puncture in the tank. Fast forward and I'm driving my new 02 Camaro in Tallahassee and have to slam on the brakes, fuel does the same thing and sets off the bright red "check gauges" light that had me temporarily concerned till I realized the source. 33 years and GM hadn't changed much.
The console lid on my wife’s 1984 Skylark failed in exactly the same way the lid on my 1974 Monte Carlo failed. Identical design, identical failure point.

about 8 years after I Sold my 2000 Hyundai Sonata ( Sold Feb 2010) I found out it had a Cabin Filter... owned that car for 8.5 years/put around 100k mi on it..
I didn't know my 05 Jetta had one till the heater started sucking more than usual last winter. It had factory one, so 18 years, 200k miles 🤣

Years after buying it I found that there is a CD player in the glove box of my 2017 VW GTI. I’ve never used it in the 8 years since I bought the car.
Mine has a CD changer in the trunk. I owned it for years before I was changing a tail light bulb and found it 🤣. I very rarely even use the radio, so CD player is useless to me.

I used my 6 cd changer all the time, until I discovered the free Sirius XM 😆

The long press unlock for windows down is totally undocumented in the original owners manual for my '17 Ridgeline, although subsequent manual updates now mention it.
Not only is it undocumented on my Prius, it didn't happen from the factory. But the dealer software (also available, dubiously licensed for the home user) lets you turn on the window thing, turn off the reverse beeper, set the number of blinks when you tap the blinker for merging lanes, change power window auto up/down, etc etc. Dealers and the distributor don't advertise this-- it could be an easy hour of labor or goodwill.

The Carly app let me change a lot of settings on my late model BMWs- splash screen, heated seat temperatures (at all three settings) and a lot of other options. I wish I could code out the stop/start on the C43 but it looks like I’ll have to pay for that.

As an original owner many times, that ubiguituos french fries on the floor between the seats are not put there during on the assembly line and are not a factory delete option. They are added later on from external sources.

Would the owner of 'Christine', the red and white '58 Plymouth Fury used in the eponymous movie like to answer that question?

That I can prime the oil filter w/o starting the vehicle.
That all windows have a one-touch-down function.
