What is something you learned about your car after you owned it?

My Prius had 10k miles before I realized the speed limit display in the dash had a red border when I was speeding. Or, rather, that the border disappeared when I was legal.

My Cutlass Ciera came to me with a somewhat reclined seat. Eventually (eg years later) I found out it had power recline with the switch inexplicably on the front corner of the cushion.

Xterra's and Fronty's have an upper and lower glove box. The upper one has a recessed latch that you can't really see. Many owners have these things for months before they figure out its there.

I remember a car ad from the distant past, advertising a 2-tiered glove box. They said something like "With both a glove compartment - and a compartment for gloves!"

1998 Eldorado (I think) was the first that would not lock the doors if the keys were in the ignition keeping you from getting locked out. I know for a fact it would not let the starter engage if the car was already running if you tried to start it. My 2007 F-350 & XC90 won't let the doors lock as well.

This thing doesn't even have cruise control.
I love unfamiliar groupings of options.

Months after purchase, I discovered cruise control on a spontaneously purchased, workmate's 1985 Chrysler LeBaron.
It had usual options for the times. But the luxury of CC was unknown to me as all my cars were older.
A pal who loved cars registered clear disgust at my not knowing.

Also, I had no idea the V70 Volvos had a "telescope to extend" cross bar and safety net built into the rear seat backs.
Ditto for the rear "riser seats". It also had a pop-out frame which held a trash bag; very civil.

I'd prefer 'pull-up' style retracting sunscreens in each door.

Forscan is truly a gift

Long unlock press can open Honda windows on some

Remote start can be similar

Must twist Subaru caliper pistons in to reset

Volvos and “afterblow,”

I think Volvos for me had the most pleasant surprises
