What is coking?

a term basically describing oil oxidizing at a temp so high the oil "crustifies" to the state of coal...

Basically the reason for using synthetic oil in a turbo. The oil passages/oil bearing very close to the exhaust (temperatures) can "coke" - a real phenomena especial at on hot shut downs, because the oil is not actively flowing through these hot areas.

One type of coke is coal heated without oxygen to create a near-pure carbon fuel. Petroleum coke is a black, granular, end product of refining crude oil.
