ive read ALOT about oil fitlers! what ide like to know is, theirs always talk about how well a fitler flows, and restricts. example, purolator pure one, is notorious for being restrictive... their premium plus is dman good, if not the best for full flow. my car didnt run as good with pureone, but ran like a bat outta **** with the premim plus. what is it, with the oil in the filter, that makes it full flowing, and restrictive? thickness of the media? filter design? how well it is fitlering and letting the oil back into the engine?

I start to wonder how much of this "Car runs bad w/ PureOne (Or Mobil1)" is imaginary

have you actually tried using a highly restrictive, and a very free flowing filter and really experienced no difference whatsoever ?

If not then dont you think your comment is as imaginary as ziggy's too ?

I have if by high restrictive you mean Pureone and by free flowing you mean PremiumPlus. Didn't notice any difference. Something might be happening that I'm not aware off but as far as I can feel, theirs no difference. My girl's 2003 Maxima has an oversized Pureone right now. The only time their was indication of oil restriction was when I first put the oil filter on. Dry start up. Not cause of the filter but because I failed to put oil in the filter when first starting up the car. Lesson learned. Otherwise the car runs shibby.

I have run Mobil 1, Pure One, Premuim Plus, and MObil 1 in that order. I see and feel no difference.

Some older car ..or one with some particular characteristic may sound different with one filter over another. Let's say you have an older engine where the relief spring in the pump is weak. You start it on a PureOne and get valve train ticking until it warms up ..but you don't get the noise with a less fine filter.

But other then an "issue" ..there should be no difference, IMHO.
