Specifically the 10w30. This is a General Petroleum synthetic blend oil that we get in bulk at work for our gasoline vehicles (along with 15w40 Delo for the diesels). I wish they would publish the HT/HS...

Performance 500 Motor Oils
5W20, 5W30, 10W30 GF-4/SM*, 20W50 GF-3/SL*

CUSTOMER BENEFITS
• Outstanding anti-wear protection
• Defense against thermal breakdown
• Cleaner engine and positive crankcase ventilation
• API SM, SL, and previous API “S” categories
FEATURES
Performance 500 Motor Oils are top quality automotive engine oils formulated with premium base stocks, shear stable viscosity index improver, dispersant inhibitor, wear control modifier, anti-sludge detergent, corrosion inhibitor, antioxidant, and a foam suppressant.
This special formulation creates a high viscosity index for GP’s Performance 500 Motor Oils, which guarantees low viscosities at low temperatures for easy cold starting and steady warm up; while maintaining viscosity at high temperatures for improved oil economy, fuel economy, and forming the sought after protective film over engine parts.
Anti-wear additives offer outstanding wear protection as engine parts slide smoothly against each other there-by preventing scoring.
GP’s Performance 500 Motor Oils contain a high level of dispersants protecting against deposits and sludge formation in stop-and-go driving conditions. A recently developed friction modifier, dispersant, antioxidant, and corrosion inhibitor has proven to sustain high temperature operation, stop corrosion, forms an oxidation stability preventing viscosity increase, and eliminates oil gelling in the crankcase. All this allows your engine to provide maximum performance at maximum oil changing intervals.
APPLICATIONS
GP Performance 500 Motor Oils are recommended for all four-stroke gasoline engines used in passenger cars, light trucks, powerboats, motorcycles, and other mobile and stationary equipment. They are exceptional for high-revving engines in small cars and light trucks. All grades are specialty formulated for use in turbocharged engines.

I think every bottle of oil I've ever read stated something of those bullets, perhaps not as a "bulleted list" - but stated those benefits to that extent

And that last one, isn't that the idea of all Motor oil, when a new "standard" comes out, it must be "compatible" with the previous....? SJ, SL, SM, and now SN?

Reason I ask is the 10w30 version of this oil is "free" to me, but the only vehicle I could run it in would be my '08 4.7 Dodge work truck, which is constantly run hard and driven offroad. I have always been running 7k-9k OCI (~2 months) with"premium" synthetics, like M1 0w20, GC 0w30, M1 0w40, and now PU 5w20.

Trying to determine if this oil is likely to last at least 5k under "severe" conitions...if not, Im better off running extended OCI's and paying for my own oil.

How many qts are you allowed for Free?
Unless you run everything you own extreamly hard, for free, you could use it in the '97 E as well. It's FREE!

As many as I want, I suppose.

The '97 MB just crossed 250k miles on the original, unopened motor and ALL of those miles were with Mobil 1 - first 100k on 10w30, next 130k on 15w50, and last 15k on 10w40 HM. No smoke, no top-offs with 7.5-10k OCI's...gonna stick with Mobil 1 on this car.

Got 8k miles to think about it for the truck - just changed with 5w20 PU

If you can get all of the oil that you want for free, it sounds like there is a little profit to be made for yourself.

Especially if your not going to use any.

And I agree with you that if your vehicles are running perfectly just like the '97 E320(using the oil that you use), then I wouldn't mess with succuss.
