What do you consider a high mileage/Km's car?

70K in NYC, 150+ on a highway cruiser. City mileage to me is double the wear as highway miles.
Much depends on how it was taken care of. Ive seen cars with 80k look like they had 300k and vice versa.

For me, 150K is high mileage. The car could easily have another 100K in it, but problems will start to creep up at this point.
Miles don't scare me at all. Its the previous owners maintainence that can irk me. My Honda has 187k miles on it. And running very strong. And everything works. Interior is in wonderful shape. I think that if you keep up on brakes, fluids, plugs, WASHING!, etc... The amount of good miles accumulated is infinite.
I'd have to say 100k.
I'm not buying the "75k" High Mileage hooplah that so many lube joints, oil manufacturers, etc....are "passing on" to the consumer.
If a car needs "High Mileage" oil at 75k due to "leaks" or burning, something is mechanically wrong.....likely due to "neglect"
All comes down to the maintenance of the vehicle.
Kind of the reason why I admire HDEO/Diesels in general......I've never seen any "HDEO" marketed as "High Mileage" because those 18 wheelers go thousands of miles....and even more "idling" than our commuter cars....

For the Ford 4.6 or Ford Duratec I would say 300K miles..Anything less I would consider buying if I had proof the car was serviced on schedule and the price was right.
I'd base it on total mileage and mileage averaged over the years.
For example, I wouldn't consider a 2003 vehicle with 100k miles on it a high mileage car.
I would consider a 2009 with 75k miles on it a high mileage car.
My rule of thumb is 12,000mi/year.

150k and up
Since todays cars and a lot of old cars easily make it past 200k, thats what I consider high mileage cars. Thats when I have to think twice about buying one.
Complete agreement on this statement. Preventative maintenance is always key and not only is it a requirement for very long life, it's the minimum required. For every extra mile you go to care for your car(s) turns back the hands of time.

I would only use High Mileage oil when it consumes over 1 quart in 1,000 miles of normal driving. I'm talking about daily drivers. So if it is an abused vehicle then 40,000 may be high mileage or 200,000 if maintained and driven nicely.
