Just wanted to get a feel for what most of you guys on here have as far as cars go. Wondering if there really are a lot of automotive "enthusiasts" on here, or mostly just consumers. I'll go first:
1987 307 Olds-current engine in my winter beater Caprice. The original with 228000km's still running like new.

1988 307 Olds-came in rusty 88 Cutlass parts car bought last month, hadn't run since 99 when it was parked in a field, there was no floor, brake lines or fuel lines left under it when we picked it up, we rigged the coolant bottle up as a fuel tank since it was right next to the mechanical fuel pump and the car started almost immediately. After swapping all 4 rims/tires for ones with air, we drove it out of the field through a mud bog and onto the trailer with a half dead battery and no alternator and didn't even need a boost. This is why I trust these cars so much for reliability.

87 305 Chevy-original engine in the car that was my daily driver in the summer for the past 5 years until this fall, first car I ever bought when I was 17 (young and stupid).I pounded it hard for over 120,000km's on it in those 5 years only driving in the summer. Also has maybe 100 1/4mile passes on it. Over 300,000km's on it and still had 165-170psi compression on all cylinders and lots of oil pressure. Used a bit of oil near the end due to valve seal and guide damage from overheating that happened when Nissan electric fans I installed went bad. Engine is now for sale.

84 Chevy 305-came in my Cutlass project car. Runs fine, don't know the history on it but it's been pulled out and now for sale.

76 Olds 350-came in 76 Caddy Seville my friend bought for parts last weekend, completely rotted out but mechanically perfect, we took a dealer plate and drove the car an hour home. I bought the engine off him to use in my Caprice for a power upgrade from the gutless 307.

74 Olds 350-found in junkyard in 81 Monte, appeared to be demo derby project never finished, after fixing a mistake on part of whover swapped the engine we had it running, oil pressure and compression was all within spec. Now it's on my engine stand being resealed and new timing chain to go in my Cutlass.

71 455 Olds-found in classifieds and bought for cheap, was still running but I tore it apart to rebuild eventually to go in my Cutlass for some real power.

1978 Ford 302-original engine in my F100 with about 166,000km's on it. Leaks a lot but seems to run about as well as is possible for a Ford.

1979 Ford 460-original engine in F250 that got handed down to me. Body is rough but good source of parts for the F100 and engine may get rebuilt to swap into the F100 some day. Runs but has low oil pressure and lifter noise.

78 Chevy 350-original engine in K10 p/u used for work, mudding and plowing on my parents 33 acres since dad bought it in 1989. Odo inop when bought no idea of miles but engine was never touched we have all service records. Has not been licensed for the road since then. Engine runs like a top and can sit a year at a time and still start up and run decent after cranking about 10-15 seconds. I'm hoping to restore it some day since it means a lot to me.

I think thats all that I can think of right now. Anyone else have this many engines?

I thought this a bit restrictive, so I listed all the IC engines I own

2004 Honda 3.5L V6 in a Saturn Vue Redline AWD (wifes daily - 30,000 miles) best of 28.1 mpg

1985 Chevy 350 in a C10 beater: headers, 4 barrel Holley, Edelbrock intake, mild cam, MSD ignition system (190,000 miles and it still starts as good as my other cars)

1995 Chevy 305 in a 20.5' Bayliner Capri Bowrider - 190 hp with a 2 barrel marine carb. (I need to upgrade to a 4 bbl. for 30 hp!)

Presently being modified for fuel mileage. Started at 25.3 mpg back in Feb 05 and as of Sunday I have her fuel mileage up to 31 mpg. Both cars are filled with synthetics.

2004 B&S 4 stroke pressure washer
1997 Ariens 12hp snow blower

btw-all like new

Mike: How do you like the "high content" 3.6L in your Caddy?

I find it very interesting that the applications GM allows for that specific motor are so limited: the Caddy applications are well known, but as an option in the Saturn Aura and as STANDARD in the Subaru XL-7 (but NOT the Torrent or Equinox?) have me puzzled. Something about the Pontiac C6 GT, too?

Cheers!

2002 Toyota Tundra V8 (2UZ-FE)
2006 Honda Odyssey 3.5L
1996 Harley Davidson Road King (Evolution, EFI w/ stage 2 kit)
2002 Harley Davidson Fat Boy (Twin Cam 88 EFI w/ power commander)

Love to own more, but don't have the space and don't want to pay for storage. One of these days I'd like to get some classic American iron and restore it. Always loved the 427 Shelby, but would probably take a '69 Camaro or a Hemicuda.

I am not an automotive enthusiast in the sense of driving a sporty car. In fact all I own are trucks. But I am an arm chair gearhead (real gear heads are much more adept with the wrench than I). Here is what I (and wife) have:

1992 Aerostar 3.0 V6 with 117,000 miles. My first 3.0 and I love it, though a bit underpowered, but it will last forever and runs great.

1995 F150 4.9L Inline 6 with 137,000 miles. My third 4.9 and I love it. This one is the best as the EFI gave it more power. My first was a '77 and I haven't been without since.

1997 Ford F53 Stripped Chassis (17,000 lb GVWR) Class A motorhome, 7.5L V8, with 47,000 miles. This is my second 7.5L. First was a Class C motorhome on the E350 chassis. Great engine, but a real serious gas hog. Class C was 8 mpg. Class A is heavier and gets 7 mpg. Ouch!

Don't ya love it? You can wind the daylights out of it and it keeps on going. Mine shifts about 5700 rpm with the pedal matted. Once it gets a little road speed it will move decently.

Jeep 4.0 great engine also.
