Probably no reason unless you are racing or towing an extremely heavy load often

often, people use a thick 40 wt to slow down oil consumption also or if they are in extreme heat temps like in the south

If you are hard on the oil and or the environment you are in is hot, etc.,

Here in Houston, Tex., it's a little warm and I tend to be either in stop and go sitting on the FREEWAY or at Lights, when this is not the case, I am stopping and starting 20-60+ times a day (today only about 30 times), on some days I let my truck Idle all the spare time, all of this is with the A/C on Med to High Even in the winter with the Heater on I have the AC because it will frost up otherwise... a lot of the time I peg the peddle to the floor, and I'm always going from 0-??? and back to 0 alsmot as many times as I start and stop the truck.... Some days my 30 or enhanced 30(-> = 40w) oil looks like water by the end of the day, that's one reason why I use it. Plus I burn less oil.
