I have a 06 Sienna LE FWD that does about 100 miles a day for 7 days a week. I know I'm supposed to change air filter and cabin filter at every 30k miles. I'm wondering if it's a better idea to go with OEM ones for best fuel economy, or aftermarket ones? I'm not looking for anything for performance purposes, just fuel economical. I think the OEM Toyota ones would be best for the air filters.

I don't think there are any aftermarket cabin filters, unless you custom make one. I'll probably stick with OEM for that as well.

Cabin filters are still fairly new and hard to find in some areas. I had to look for a while to find one for my car; the owners manual didn't even mention one; I learned it had one from a forum.
Purolator and Fram are two cabin filters that are available in my area(finally).
Air filters are a mixed bag; Fram, believe it or not, has the best easy to find air filter. Some 'superior' brands have a cheesy construction and poor fit.

I've been experimenting with cabin filters due to the high cost of OEM and aftermarket filters.

I began with 3M Filtrete 1250 (purple) filters because they were supported with a plastic mesh. Cutting them to fit was no major problem and I got 4-6 cabin filters out of each.

I have found Lysol filters which are a bit easier to cut.

A roll of 3/4" vinyl expanded foam self-stick weatherstrip provides the seal.

The out-of-pocket for a cabin filter is in the range of $4-9 each, about 1/3 to 1/5 the cost of the OEM filters.
