Well I would say that does it for MAC for me.

Yes we get it; when Matco socket cracks you did't use it right. When HF socket cracks, it was POS.

That being said i already have an acct with the mac guy and will still be doing most my business with him but i did buy a snap on ratchet last week. snap on definitely has a great ratchet. I have yet to break any of my mac tools or craftsman professional tools.

I always preferred a tool that held up compared to a tool man that would replace it. Over the years I've broke almost all brands. The old USA craftsman, SK, snap-on, mac. But if I'm getting the same piece replaced on a regular basis I'm buying something different.

Tool Steel tends to harden with age, Trial By Fire early in life seems to extend the life dramatically.

I have a "GM Goodwrench" 13/16" made in Taiwan thin wall chrome socket that I have been trying to break for 10 years.....

Just exactly what do you think wasn't "honest" about it?

Not much: which was why I thanked Merkava.

Fair enough.

I ordered the other two 10mm combination wrenches.

COO = County Of Origin.

So what I am saying is that they mark the USA stuff USA, but omit the marking on other than USA stuff.

I don't like that, it feels like they are trying to hide something to me, although now that I know the program anything not marked is suspect.

I got a bunch of American made S&K sockets cheap. They shattered as easily as anything Harbor Freight sold.

Sure, I often try to buy things made in the USA, but not when they aren't any better than what is offered overseas. Many parts of my Saturn ION may as well have been made in China or Taiwan.

Geez man..........that pretty much ruins the SK socket set idea.

Interesting. Ive never shattered a socket, and have only cracked one socket, once, a Taiwanese 19mm 3/8" drive that was probably misused on a stuck fastener.

I can imagine they would shatter if used improperly in impact duty... User error then...

The other two 10mm Combo Wrenches came today.

Both have USA markings on the actual tool, they both came in one ziplock type bag with no sticker on it, unlike the Taiwan wrench.

Finish much nicer, but still not quite up to par with my others (Hint the newest old one is probably about 1989 or so...) They will do...

They are the ones that were previously discussed.

Metric Wrench KS2 Combo 10MM/6PT Metric Wrench KS2 Combo 10MM/6PT
SKU: MB106KS
Metric Extra Long Combination Wrench - 10mm Metric Extra Long Combination Wrench - 10mm
SKU: CLL210MMKS

The CLL210MMKS is similar in profile to the old wrenches, yet much longer. I really don't like it being longer, particularly in the smaller sizes because the old ones could sometimes get where others won't. I realize it is a trade off between access and leverage. It retains the somewhat sharp edged profile of the old wrenches, which is something I don't like and I think I may like less where a longer wrench is warranted. It tends to hurt my finger joints if I really have to pull on it.

The MB106KS is about the length of an old 12mm or 13mm yet is more rounded in profile, I like it. If I had to replace all of my old ones that is the series I would get if I stayed with MAC.

Note when I say "old ones" the part number for my old one would be M10CW.

Now, If I could turn up a 3/8 drive 1" wobble extension (X1EW) it appears they quit making them.

It's interesting how MAC stayed with old pattern for the extra longs and then changed to the Proto pattern for the regular longs. An extra long Proto pattern would have been very tempting for me.
